It is the way you can help us to keep the Homestay and the Community nice and comfortable! Priority tasks might be discussed and decided at the 9AM meeting !

Daily Tasks

General :

  • Use and tidy the​ cleaning set ​available at every floors. Tell us if something is missing/over-used, and refill the detergent if the bottles are empty.
  • Chemicals ​only when needed, be environmentally conscious

Bathrooms

  • Empty bins, change the plastic bag if needed (use the big black bags) and wash the lid of the bin
  • Brush the toilet bowl (large brush) and the sink (with sponge), from inside AND from outside
  • Mop and wipe the floor
  • Wash and rinse the tiles
  • Clean the drain from hair and brush the dirt down
  • Clean the doors and the switches
  • Fill up the hand soap container if empty

Living room

Consider how the community wants to represent itself.

  • Clean the shelves, tables, doors and windows
  • Empty ashtrays
  • Empty garbage bin
  • Segregate and crash empty water bottles and cans
  • Tidy and arrange couch cushions
  • Sweep
  • Open doors and windows, get some airflow
  • Mop
  • Arrange and organize furniture, mats, mattresses, tidy away stuff left lying around
  • Light the incense sticks

Guests rooms

  • Empty bins, change plastic bag if needed (re-use bags from shopping), wash the lid of the bin
  • Clean the shelves, tables and windows
  • Brush the carpets
  • Clear the cobwebs
  • Clean the doors and the switches
  • Clean wall marks
  • Sweep
  • Open doors and windows, get some airflow
  • Mop
  • Put the used sheets on the 1st floor near by Shashwat’s rooms door

Volunteers rooms

  • Open doors and windows, get some airflow
  • Clean the shelves, tables and windows
  • Sweep
  • Mop
  • Empty bins, change the plastic bag if needed (re-use the bags from the shopping)

Common Halls

Kitchen for guests

  • Empty bins, change the plastic bag if needed (use the big black bags)
  • Wash the dirty utensils and the gas stove,
  • Change or wash the kitchen cloths and sponges
  • Bring new dish soap if empty
  • Tidy and clean the kitchen counter (above and under)
  • Clean the sink

Kitchen for volunteers

Make sure kitchen is clean before sleeping, so early risers do not have a messy kitchen to wake up…

  • Wash any pots, pans etc.
  • Empty compost daily (avoid fermentation) → offer to the animals in the street
  • Empty garbage bins
  • Clean and tidy any remaining dishes as soon as you see some
  • Rinse and dry the kitchen clothes
  • Clean counter, table, stove, fridge
  • Sweep

Stairs and halls

Balcony

  • Organize and place things back where they belong indoors

Courtyard

Garden/plants

  • Water the garden in the evening or late in the afternoon
  • Water the plants inside the house

Rooftop room

  • Empty ashtrays
  • Tidy cushions/seating
  • Tidy away stuff left lying around
  • Sweep

Waste management

  • Clean bins all over the house
  • Crush bottles, cans and carton/paper for the recycle bins
  • Empty containers (organic, recycle, other waste…)
  • Fill-up the Eco-bricks: Remove plastic from bin and wash – Add clean and dry plastic to bottles – Pack down plastic with stick 

Weekly Tasks (Mondays)

  • Clear the cobwebs in all the rooms to clean the energy
  • Take all cushions out (mattress and cover), beat dust out and leave in sun
  • Clean the switches
  • Empty the recycling waste containers
  • Sweep the tank floor
  • Wash the kitchen clothes

Monthly Tasks

  • Clean the fans
  • Clean wall marks
